Now, I am working with VMS a lot which consume my 16GB of RAM quickly and what I noticed is that if I ever hit the upper ceiling by accident, the OS doesn't respond with maybe cancelling the process claiming new memory but rather freezes. Half way means, I am on Kernel 5.x (because of btrfs), no more swap, but have not yet set up the swapfile. I am currently currently half way through moving from using a swap partition (encrypted) to a swap file. ![]() ![]() Disclaimer, this is not about a problem I have but rather I'd like to understand how things work.
